
PROGRESS GB is an Equal pilot project
funded by the European Social Fund
programme. It consists of a partnership of different organisations whose
main objectives are to:
- Develop new systems to improve refugees' and migrants' education and
training with literacy, English, numeracy and IT courses.
- Create an online and telephone-based information service for migrant workers
available in at least 3 languages.
- Create cooperation between employment agencies, employer organisations,
trade unions, education providers and voluntary organisations.
- Present positive images of employment of refugees and migrants to help
employers in overcoming prejudice in the work place.
- Support the integration of refugees and migrants.
PROGRESS GB action plan consists
of:
- Action 1: research and consultation with target group (migrants/refugees)
and
regional and national partners.
- Action 2: development of new national information service and regional
demonstration activities.
- Action 3: regional and national events; written reports and publications;
support
for other organisations; website for employers and refugee/migrant workers;
Positive Images pack (multimedia positive images to demonstrate the benefits
of employing refugees and migrants)
PROGRESS GB works with transnational partners in a grouping called MEET
(Migrants - Empowerment - Employment - Training). MEET includes
organisations in Germany, Austria, Italy and the Netherlands.
