Public Libraries

This is what you can find in a library:
- books
- videos or DVDs
- CDs
- computer to use Internet for free
- places for private study

Here you will find a list of public libraries in the UK:

Many libraries are also online, so you can search their catalogues from your home if you have Internet access.

To use the services of your local library you need to get a card. The card is free. To get it you need to show a document to confirm your identity, address and signature.

Any identification document is acceptable, but they must have your signature and a photograph of yourself:

Driving Licence
Passport
ID card
Any bill
Prescriptions
Medical card
Bank documents

You also have to complete an application form. You can get it at your local library. If you want to do your researches online and use the Internet, you will have to get a PIN from your local library. A PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a number you will have to use every time.
