English courses

English courses: ESOL and IELTS

The basic qualification you need is the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) certificate. Employers do not require it, but it is good for you to have it!

There are many places where you can take an English course to get your ESOL certificate: colleges of further education, training centres, schools, voluntary or private organisations. Usually ESOL courses are free, but sometimes you will have to pay.

Get information about it as soon as possible. If you are supported by some organisation, they will help you find a course.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is another certificate recognised in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA and other countries. It is necessary to prove you have the level of English required to work or study in an English-speaking country.

To find an IELTS Test Centre near to where you live click here
to search the website (go to "Search for an IELTS Test Centre" and select your country).
